Our Mares

Mt Tawonga Tanjil

AMHA: 144692

Sire: Marvellous Encore
Dam: Mt. Tawonga Miss Mary
DOB: 06/12/1996

Tanjil is a full sister to Mt Tawonga Tarraji, Mt Tawonga Genevieve, Red Bluff Tara, Red Bluff Tatiana, Red Bluff Townsend and Red Bluff Talisman.

Until we purchased her in November 2006 Tanjil spent her time running with the herd at Mt Tawonga Morgan stud and producing six quality foals – Eiben’s Adventurous, Eiben’s Penny, Manna Wood Hope, Mt Tawonga Justice, Mt Tawonga Harmony and Mt Tawonga Heather.

Although we primarily bought Tanjil to be a brood mare I couldn’t resist the opportunity of riding her. I went from being impressed by Morgan horses to being addicted as in less than four hours training spread out over three weeks I was riding her along rough bush tracks. Under saddle Tanjil is calm, confident and willing with incredibly comfortable paces. She has produced three stunning fillies for us - Zaeeda (2008), Yve (2009) and Xena (2010).

Ros and John Goodwin purchased Zaeeda and Yve for their Tarrangaua Morgan Farm. We’re retaining Samaria Creek Xena to continue Nimrod’s bloodline in our brood mare band.

MT Tawonga Folie

AMHA: 0174286

Sire: Mt Tawonga Tarraji
Dam: Wood Run Trillium
DOB: 23/12/2003

We chose Folie as she possesses all the qualities we admire in a Morgan horse. With intelligence, style, athleticism and classic movement,Folie loves to be with people and performs kindly under saddle. Although her ridden work is limited since joining our brood mares she's still well mannered when ridden with foal at foot.
Folie's blood lines and type combine well with Nimrod.

Her sons Samaria Creek Zephyr (2008)and Samaria Creek Echo (2009) by Nimrod can be viewed on SOLD page. We are retaining Samaria Creek Xanadu (2010).

Ragtime Arizona

AMHA: 0137585

Sire: Edelweiss Magic Man
Dam: UVM Katrina
DOB: 27/03/1996

Arizona came to Samaria Creek in June 2009 to have her foal by Twinhill Ronaldo (see for sale).

Her owner Marg Curtayne now in her 80's and living on the outskirts of Melbourne was instrumental in importing Nimrod, UVM Katrina and Arizona and wanted to take advantage of our cottage to spend time with Arizona and her foal. Over the previous few years illness and surgery had prevented Marg from following her Morgan horse passion.Arizona's gentle nature, true Morgan movement and presence quietly stole my heart.

I enjoyed starting and trail riding Silverline Detroit (see sold) a gelding sired by a son of a Nimrod/Arizona combination so was excited when she was bred to Nimrod October 2009. Joyously in February 2010 (with some help from Marg Curtayne) Arizona became mine and produced a stunning colt; Samaria Creek Xavier by Nimrod in 2010 (see for sale).

Haymeron Park Darling Prue

AMHA: 0163963

Sire: Aura Dell Edward
Dam: Karenza Minette
DOB: 19/11/2003

Prue has classic Morgan looks and a curious, friendly nature packed into just her under 14.00 HH body. She truly epitomises the Morgan ‘big-little-horse’ description.
Lippitt bloodlines combined with the temperament and soundness I look for had me leap at the opportunity to lease her.

I’m  excited to see what she and Nimrod produce and grateful to Anne and Collin Cramp of Billabong Morgans for making this possible.

Bushrun Morning Star

MHAA:246  3/4 Part Morgan mare

Sire: Marvelous Encore
Dam: Ereistay Ultima
DOB: 27/10/2003

Star is a typey, friendly mare with look at me presence.
I snapped up the offer to lease her when owner Sue Nelson relocated.
I’m pleased with the result of crossing Tui’s Nimrod with Marvelous Encore mares and Star’s filly was no exception.

She’s a favourite with visitors and can be seen on Sale page. Link to Samaria Creek Dainty Dancer.

Boxthorn Edwina

MHAA: 32 Partbred Morgan

Sire:  Aura Dell Edward
Dam: Wilton Park Mandalay (Arabian Pony)
DOB: 14/11/1993

Edwina belongs to Sandy Curtayne and is staying at Samaria creek to have her Tui’s Nimrod foal spring 2011.

She’s a delightful pony, full of Morgan character and presence. Aura Dell Edward was an exceptional stallion who only left a limited number of his progeny to carry his genetic imprint.

We’re looking forward to offspring from the union between Nimrod and Edwina.

Poppy

Welsh pony, Red roan
D.O.B 2001

I bought Poppy as an unbroken four year old when her stocky conformation, Haflinger style looks and friendly nature appealed to me.
Our students have enjoyed being part of her training and she has proved to be a confident, willing trail horse. Crossing her solid 13.2 hands with the stylish Tui’s Nimrod has produced fantastic family Galloways.

Samaria Creek Aramis 2007 (see SOLD) Black Betty 2008 (see SOLD), Cocopop 2009 (See SOLD) and Delta Dawn 2010 (see for SALE).
